If you are looking for good reading material, kindly direct your attention to a fine, but not yet well known, author who happens to be a friend of my family's. We met Lisa Preston at Killer Nashville last August. She was impressive as a person, leading a discussion group in which I was a participant, and just generally being friendly. We bought the first in her new contemporary Western series The Clincher featuring Rainy Dale, a young female blacksmith trying to establish her business in a male-dominated environment. And we've ordered the next two in the series.
Kirkus Reviews wrote: "Can a woman whose life is all about horses and a man whose life is all about food make a go of it? A rousing novel. the mystery leaves plenty of open questions for the tough but needy heroine while immersing the reader in all things equine."
I strongly recommend The Clincher and Lisa Preston's "horseshoe mystery" series. You will be glad you took my recommendation to heart.
