Lisa, my long-suffering wife, Odie the Wonder Dog, and I took a walk in our woodsy neighborhood and had our breath taken away as we strolled through autumn's glorious colors. Always my favorite season, I was beginning to wonder if we would have much color this year, and I was grumpy about it, too. Then, in a span of two or three days, it seems as if every tree has come forth with its best effort at painting the world red and orange and yellow and brown, along with some evergreen for contrast. How did they know to do that? How did they know?
