We live in a renovated 1932 summer cottage at the base of a small mountain with woods all over the place. As a result, we get lots of critters. We have bears on occasion, deer, woodchucks, possum, raccoons, coyotes, and foxes. Tons of birdlife, everything but cassowaries. There are black snakes, rat snakes, and several garden snakes. So far, no venomous snakes (thank you blacksnakes). We like it and think it's worthwhile to have such wonderful creatures around us. This sentiment does not include the two cats.
