Most of you know I'm a writer, but I recently hit a brick wall after writing seventeen chapters of a coming-of-age novel set in my home town my last year at Clinton (Iowa) High School. It is fiction, with few personal references. Anyway, my brick wall lasted about eight months while I kept busy with my new novel, Keeping to Himself. But just a few days ago the wall crumbled and I've been working on the new book ever since. Not giving up is so satisfying and I'm relieved that I stuck with it. Working title? A Boy Should Have A Father.
