Recently, I had the joy of watching one of the endless parades of shameless politicians reach a new low of self-importance and self-promotion. This person put out on social media a closeup of his dental appointment including an interview with his dental hygienist. Now that we've been presented with the open mouth proving himself a fool (with a head nod to Mark Twain's similar quote), what's next? A politician sharing a video of a visit to the gynecologist? Another politician offering up a prostate exam for the world to see? I do not doubt it. As my mother used to say when she'd seen something weird, off-putting, or downright stupid, "I believe I've lived too long."
The coarsening of America continues unabated. A glass of wine is calling my name. I can hear it. . .
