As a writer, I am frequently researching publishers to see what they want, other than immediate best sellers, classics, and submissive authors. Fine. But it can become peculiar.
In addition to the usual genres; western, thrillers, sci-fi, literary, paranormal, detective, publishers sometimes drift into the unusual. For example, I found one outfit that publishes Amish romances, gay fiction, and space travel.
So, I am now working on a novel about a same-sex Amish romance on Pluto.
I go where the muse (and publishers) lead me.
